The core advantage of a booster is from the increased mass of rubber to make more power and spin. Boosters usually enlarge the rubber over the regulated 4.0mm limit of rub- ber thickness. ITTF enforced the control over the rubber thickness by cancelling the win when the player's rubber measures over 4.05mm.
