Spinlord Ultra Carbon 2021

The Ultra Carbon 2021 has the same veneer combination as the Ultra Carbon.

Thus, the wood consists of 5 veneers and 2 carbon layers with a total thickness of approximately 6.1 mm. The outer veneers are made of Limba, the intermediate veneers are made of Koto, and the core veneer is made of Ayous. The carbon layers are made of carbon fiber, the thinnest and softest type of carbon.

However, the handles are now made of solid Hinoki. As a result, the Ultra Carbon 2021 is slightly heavier on average than the Ultra Carbon, weighing about 86g, but the weight distribution is less head-heavy, and the handles are overall more stable.

The handles are not as stable as those of the Classic Carbon, but noticeably more stable than those of the "old" Ultra Carbon. They are therefore suitable for all normal-sized and strong hands, but not for smaller hands. This wood is therefore not suitable for children.

Since most offensive blades from Lion in our range are rather head-heavy and have slimmer handles, the Ultra Carbon 2021 is a very good alternative for many players.

The Ultra Carbon 2021 offers all the advantages of a carbon wood: it is exceptionally controlled and forgives technically imperfect shots.

However, the Ultra Carbon 2021 also offers what you could not previously expect from a carbon wood: a sensitive and rather soft hitting feeling. The ability to effectively play passive shots like underspin. And optimal elasticity, which supports not only powerful offensive shots but also play with maximum rotation. Thus, the Ultra Carbon 2021 is only slightly stiffer than comparable fast woods without carbon.

The Ultra Carbon 2021 is particularly suitable for combination with inverted rubbers and short pimples. The use of long pimples or anti-spin rubbers on the backhand is also possible, but only for close-to-table play.

Overall, the Ultra Carbon 2021 is the right wood for modern offensive play with a lot of spin. It is not quite as fast as the Classic Carbon and is therefore generally rated as a controlled offensive wood.
